Huntingdon College (Montgomery, Alabama) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. This is a tenure-track position, requiring a 24 credit-hour load (typically four courses per semester) of face-to-face teaching of a range of courses contributing to a major in Criminal Justice, plus requirements in service and scholarly activity. Courses currently in rotation include Introduction to Criminal Justice, Private Security, Survey of Corrections, Criminal and Constitutional Law, Terrorism, and Research Methods in Criminal Justice. The position begins August 1, 2025.

This is a tenure-track position, requiring a 24 credit-hour load (typically four courses per semester) of face-to-face introductory composition courses, general education introduction to literature courses, and a range of upper-level courses contributing to majors in English and English Secondary Education. The bulk of the teaching load is in general education, especially freshman composition. The start date is August 1, 2025, although a start date of January 1, 2025 may be considered if mutually agreeable.

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching, especially in teaching first- and second-year college students, and a strong commitment to professional ethics. Applicants of any specialty will be considered; competence to offer occasional courses in foreign language, theater, African American literature, or creative writing would add to the disciplinary breadth of the department.

Required Education: An earned PhD in English or closely related discipline. An earned MFA may be considered, with demonstrated competence to teach freshman composition.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching undergraduate core courses (composition, introduction to literature).

instructor level; appointment to the tenure track requires completion of the doctorate.

Job Summary

Huntingdon College invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position as an Admission Recruiter.  Admission Recruiters represent Huntingdon College to prospective students, their families, and other organizations.  Successful admission recruiters exhibit superior customer service skills and professionalism throughout daily interactions and communications with students including interviews, phone calls, emails and information sessions.  The recruiter creates and implements recruitment strategies to reach prospective students through events, referrals, online and print communications. The admission recruiters must demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators and staff.  A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and some weekends is required.  Travel, valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Extensive travel, especially over-night, during Fall semester recruiting season.
  • Create an individual recruitment plan for each semester as well as participate in the creation of a team recruitment plan. The plan includes recruitment activities, participation in various events and college fairs, and communication with prospective students and families. 
  • Complete weekly reports to include documentation of prospective student recruitment/outreach activities
  • Ability to work on a deadline, strive towards college-wide enrollment goals and use outstanding customer service to recruit students to the College.
  • Utilize phone, text, email, and mail to communicate with prospective students in a timely manner, providing superior student service.
  • Become familiar with working territory and demographics of cities/towns in that area to best reach the student population for Huntingdon College.  
  • Participate in campus events (as determined by admission leadership) such as preview days, orientation, registration events and graduation.
  • Ability to work independently, and to arrange information sessions, set appointments, and promote the College in a positive manner.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately as well as accept supervisory input and constructive criticism.

Huntingdon College, Department of Public Safety invites applications for the position of Security Officer. The security officer position is responsible for providing security patrols and performing duties relating to the protection of College students, faculty, staff, personal and institution property through the enforcement of law and college rules to ensure a safe and secure environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate and have an appropriate relationship with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
  • Execute daily reports and patrol college property on foot and in motorized vehicles to preserve law and order.
  • Prevent and discover the commission of crimes.
  • Answer calls and complaints involving fire, automobile accidents, lockouts, felonies, and other misdemeanors.
  • Administer first aid, conduct preliminary investigations, gather information, and prepare detailed accident investigation reports.
  • Interview person with complaints and inquiries and attempt to make proper disposition or direct them to proper authorities.
  • Attend regular training classes in police methods, first aid, target practice and other law enforcement-related work as required.
  • Provide crowd and traffic control during sporting events and other special events.
  • Enforce and issue parking citations upon regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED approved by the State Department of Education.
  • 21 years old or older.
  • Have a valid driver license with an insurable driving record.
  • Must be APOSTC certified

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must not have been convicted of a felony, misdemeanor involving force, violence, or moral turpitude.
  • CPR and First Aid certificates.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of security, traffic, and parking practices and procedures.
